Examine Case 1:
D4L hates PvP, he trains and trains but never gets it right. So he just becomes lazy and learns TvP. He hasn't really leaned Protoss well and just gives up. Therefore, he isn't as good at Starcraft.

Of course, Case 1 isn't as bad as Case 2.
Examine Case 2:
D4L has chosen PvZ,ZvT,PvP. Sam has chosen ZvT, TvP, ZvZ. When they are set against each other, D4L will use P but Sam will use T. Therefore, D4L will use Z and Sam will have to use Z. The circle continues.

Examine Case 3:
D4L has chosen PvZ, ZvT, TvP. Sam has chosen PvZ,ZvT,TvP. Circle logic again, except, with all three of the match-ups. But I doubt anyone will go to such extremities.

I've think about it...maybe they can just toss a coin and decide which to use......
And the rule says choose your race freely, you don't have to decide which race to use right here. You'll have to decide which race to use even things are like what you said.

Examine Case 4:
D4L picks PvZ,ZvT,PvP. Sam has chosen PvZ,ZvT,TvP. Now, the circle comes so they pick Random. However, D4L has a 1/3 chance of getting a matchup he likes. And that lowers even still because the randomizer randoms mirror matchups even less. Obviously, i would doubt he knows Z very well so only with considerable luck, he'd achieve PvZ. Sam on the other hand, has had experience with all races, so is comfortable with all matchups, at least more comfortable than D4L is. The question is, how is this fair?

Examine Case 5:
D4L picks random. Sam has three matchups (PvZ,ZvT,PvP). If random is allowed as an option, how will this be fair to Sam, he has a 1 in 3 chance that this can backfire on him. What build is he going to use? Therefore, why bother having specific matchups in the first place?

I don't mind having random as an option, nor do i mind picking matchups, but if they're both in use together, it really just doesn't work.

??? If there's a conflict BOTH players play random. It doesn't matter if the race they get is a conflict. Random is fair.

^^ to add on. If one player is able to play 3 races and the other one can only play 1 race, then the first player needs to devote 3x more time into practicing... fair? I think so

So then why would anyone do it?
Because the knowledge of knowing what the enemy is doing and their uttermost confusion is worth the difficulty of learning the matchups and besides, no-one here has enough skill to make the most of the other person's randomness and lack of practise at one specific race (as none of us play 12/7). Of course, i'm only saying that but there may be a few pros here.

If someone has practiced more, they have already developed a general sense and overall understanding of the game. They will none-the-less beat the other person. So, yes, i'm trying to balance the grounds to make the game more enjoyable, not ass-rape.

Then this argument is futile since we both have different objectives.
Just one last point, tournaments are meant to compare pure skill without any restrictions.
